The exercise I want to talk about is bouldering — indoor rock climbing on low walls without ropes — which has become a genuine obsession of mine over the past two years.
I started in the least athletic way imaginable: a colleague dragged me along after work because his usual partner had cancelled. I expected to embarrass myself, and I did — my forearms gave out in twenty minutes. But something about it got its hooks into me immediately, and I've been going twice a week ever since, to a gym near my office.
What makes bouldering special is that it's a puzzle disguised as a sport. Each route is a physical riddle: which hand goes where, when to shift your weight, whether to lunge or balance. You fail a problem twenty times, adjust one foot placement, and suddenly you flow straight up the wall. That moment is addictive.
It's also the only activity that fully clears my mind — when you're three metres up deciding your next move, it is physically impossible to think about work emails. I leave the gym with tired arms and a completely reset brain. I've made friends there, my posture has improved, and honestly it doesn't feel like exercise at all. That's the trick: I got fit by accident, while playing.

Why do some people dislike exercise?

モデル回答

Very often because of how they were introduced to it. School PE ranks children publicly — the slowest runner, the last one picked — so millions of people file exercise under humiliation before they turn fifteen. My own case fits: I hated all sport until I found bouldering at thirty. There's also a framing problem: gyms sell exercise as duty and punishment for eating, which makes it psychologically costly. When movement is packaged as play instead, most 'exercise haters' turn out to enjoy it. The dislike is learned — which means it can be unlearned.
