The person I'd like to talk about is my first boss, Mr Tanaka, who I worked under for about three years at my previous company.
I still remember my first month there — I was completely out of my depth, and he was the one who sat down with me every evening and patiently walked me through things, without ever making me feel stupid. What I admire most is how down-to-earth he is despite being incredibly capable. He never takes credit for his team's work, and whenever something goes wrong, he's always the first to take responsibility. He genuinely leads by example rather than just giving orders.
The most important thing he taught me is that being reliable matters more than being brilliant, and I'd argue that idea has shaped my whole approach to work. Even now, when I face a tough decision, I often catch myself thinking, 'What would he do here?' — which is probably the clearest sign of how much I look up to him.

What qualities make someone a good role model?

モデル回答

I'd say the essential quality is consistency between words and actions. The main reason is that people — children especially — copy what they see, not what they're told. Take parents, for example: a father who reads every evening will raise readers far more effectively than one who merely tells his kids to study. Having said that, role models don't need to be flawless; showing how to recover from failure is arguably just as valuable. So on balance, integrity plus a bit of honest imperfection is the ideal combination.
