Very much so. Living in central Tokyo, I get starved of greenery, so about once a month I escape the city for a day hike. Even a couple of hours surrounded by lush greenery does wonders for my head — problems that felt huge on Friday seem manageable by Sunday evening.

Do you prefer the mountains or the sea?

The mountains, although I grew up by the sea, funnily enough. The ocean feels like home, but it's the mountains that recharge me — the cool air, the quiet, the sense of achievement at the summit. The sea is for nostalgia; the mountains are for therapy, if that makes sense.
