Where is your hometown?

I'm originally from a small coastal town in Shizuoka, about an hour southwest of Tokyo by bullet train. It's the kind of tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone — which was lovely as a child, though I have to admit it felt slightly suffocating as a teenager.

Has your hometown changed much since you were a child?

Quite dramatically, actually. The area around the station has undergone rapid development — there's now a huge shopping complex where the old fish market used to be. I have mixed feelings about it: life there is far more convenient, but a bit of the town's character has been lost along the way.
